Requirements
There are three stages to the admission process of the Master's in International Relations program. In order to be admitted, candidates must successfully complete these stages of the admission process within the application period.
The program will accept applications for the 2016/2017 academic year between 25 April and 02 September 2016. Later applications will be deferred to the next application period.
Stage 1: Online Application
Candidates must fill the application form from the website of the Graduate School of Social Sciences. Incomplete online applications are not accepted. Please make the necessary arrangements to finalize this stage of the admission process before the end of the application period.

Stage 2: Submission of Application Documents
Upon applying online, candidates are requested to send a hard copy of their application documents to

The application documents consist of the following:
- Undergraduate Diploma (minimum GPA of 2.20/4.00 or 55/100)
- Transcript of undergraduate courses
- ALES or GMAT or GRE scores (see below for details)
- English proficiency exam scores (see below for details)
- Two reference letters
Application packages with missing documents are not accepted. Please make necessary arrangements to submit ALL documents (including two recommendation letters) to the program before the end of the application period in order to be considered. Late documents will not be accepted and students with incomplete documents will not be invited to interviews.
Information on the Test Scores:
ALES, GMAT or GRE score is required from Turkish candidates. Test scores that would qualify for application are ALES (verbal or equal weight) ≥ 55 or GMAT ≥ 450 or GRE (quantitative) ≥ 610.
Foreign nationals are exempted from ALES, GMAT or GRE scores.
All candidates are required to submit English examination scores of TOEFL IBT ≥ 72 or YDS ≥ 60 or BİLET (BİLGİ English Test) ≥ 70
Students who would like to take the Bilgi Online English Exam must contact Ebru Serdar Karaduman from the Social Sciences Institute by email: graduateenglishtest@bilgi.edu.tr . Students can take the 50-minute exam within a few days.
Native English speakers are exempted from exam scores.
Stage 3: Interview
Eligible candidates will be invited for an interview by the Graduate Admissions Committee of the Department of International Relations after they submit their applications within the application period. Depending on the number of applicants, there will be three sets of interviews roughly in mid-June, mid-July, and the first week of September. Candidates will be interviewed only once and they will be informed of the exact date, time and place of the interview by email. If a student cannot make it to an interview, s/he will be invited again for the following round.
The interview will be conducted in English and will involve questions relating to the candidates’ academic past, future plans, reasons for application and basic knowledge of international relations.
